In the Company of Mom: A Mother’s Day Special with The Company and Aiza Seguerra
A few friends and I were invited recently to the “In the Company of Mom: A Mother’s Day Special with The Company and Aiza Seguerra” concert at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City.
We went there straight from Maribago Beach Resort and we were halfway late, so we had to race against time. We were a bit ruffled, plus our cameras were confiscated at the entrance, but Aiza’s voice soothed us when we came in the door. I am not exaggerating.
Let me tell you a story. When I was about four, Aiza Sequerra was at the height of her popularity, and I was one of her young fans. I used to wear my hair like hers and I would often drag a stool in front of the mirror, climb on to it, and then sing my heart out loud.
She’s not anymore the cuddly little girl that we used to know, but she has evolved into a respected singer with that golden voice. So when I found out that was going to have a concert with the equally talented The Company in Cebu, I quickly signed up to go.
It was a great partnership because The Company singers perked up the people after Aiza’s soothing melodies. But the highlight of the night was when MJ, who invited us there after we met her at iBlog 5, took us aside after the concert and introduced us to The Company and to the producer, Joey Nolasco, who said he would invite us to more (free) events in the future. Hooray!
I have to say that they were down-to-earth despite their fame. Moy, who I believe is the leader of the group, was especially friendly. No doubt why they got to where they are now.
