PhotoHunt: Hanging

This is the Delirium, a thrill ride at the Kings Island Amusement Park in Mason, Ohio. (Trivia: This park is the biggest in the Midwest. It was once featured on The Partridge Family and Brady Bunch.)

Riders are seated on a ring facing outward with their legs dangling in the air. A giant arm swings the ring back and forth as if it is swinging a slingshot, and riders are spun in a 240-degree arc 137 feet in the air, or roughly more than 13 stories. Hanging, indeed!

Delirium in Kings Island Amusement Park

I didn’t ride the Delirium because I was already dizzy from the other thrill rides in the park, and besides, I didn’t have the guts to go up on it. Just looking at it from afar made my insides knot.

    I rode this last year when a friend and I went to King’s Island. I was nervous at first, but I LOVED it!
    I can’t wait to go back!

    I live in Indiana, I live just about 90 miles from King’s Island.
    Did you ride The Beast? That is my favorite roller coaster!

    If you ever get back to Ohio, you should go to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio (northern ohio) It is another amusement park, and it has tons of great roller coasters!!! http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/rides/coasters/index.cfm

    i didn’t. i was such a coward. i guess it was because i started the day with Drop Zone and Face-Off, two of the worst rides. my friends got on The Beast, though. they loved it, so i guess i missed a lot.

    i’ll check out Cedar Point when i go back to the US later this month. thanks for the tip! :)

    I HATE the Drop Zone, I rode it last last year, and I will NEVER ride it again!
    It goes way too high!!!! LOL

    lol. it was my first ride. my mistake. the result? i got scared trying out the rest. i should have started with the easiest rides.
